Since Daddy is off on a fishing trip the girls and I decided we were going to do some fun cooking (well, sort of) today indoors to stay out of the 105 degree temps. This morning we made homemade granola bars from a recipe at What's for lunch at our house, but we made ours gluten free of course. We used dark chocolate chips and dried cranberries. I think next time I will use coconut and almonds. Hmm, what other variations sound good?
After naps we decorated cookies to look like flip flops. You can use any oval shaped cookie. We used Nutter Butters and Miss M used her gluten free version of a vanilla creme filled cookie. Hers are not oval, but she doesn't mind. The flip flop strap is made from Twizzler Pull and Peel. Unfortunately, I could not find any gluten free licorice out there, but I will just sneak off her straps before she eats her cookie. The center is just a milk chocolate chip, but you could get really creative and put on little butter cream icing flower or edible jewel. We are bringing these to the water park to share with our friends tomorrow!
