Surprised (and not in the good way)

G has had a cough now for over a week. I thought when it started the fever that everyone else was getting after the onset of the cough would show up at any time. 5 days passed and no fever, no appetite change, no runny or congested nose, no signs of any illness ---except a nagging cough. I called the pedi. on Wednesday and they started her on breathing treatments 6 times a day and if she was still coughing to bring her in on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. The cough got much better... until early Saturday morning when it got bad again. In we went to the pedi. this morning. Her airways are constricted causing the coughing and she has been "officially" labeled with asthma :(. We have been down this road before but it has always been preceded by a cold or respiratory infection. I listened with the stethoscope and could hear the wheezing. The pedi. said it is very mild and there is a high likely hood that she will grow out if in a few years. We have no immediate family history of asthma on either side so hopefully she will not have to deal with this her whole life. It was most likely set off by the temperature change last Friday. Yesterday the girls were outside the entire morning in the cool crisp air with Daddy (He is so wonderful!). It makes sense now why the cough got worse again.

Have you tried Lithy Tree, which is what Dr. Bain has her asthmatics take?

Lithy Tree can be used in conjunction with "traditional" medicines for asthma and it can cut down on the dependence of inhalers and other medication. It is more for the spasmodic coughing associated with asthma, which at this time G does not have. We are looking into this as well as black currant. The black currant helps with anti-inflammatory which will also help with inflammation of air waves.
